Global Competitiveness Report has been assembled and published by the World Economic Forum.
The index therefore really measures how far a country conforms to a very specific agenda rather than to any objective definition of economic success. And because the World Economic Forum makes a big noise in the world, and leaders command respect at Davos according to the size and success of their economies, the Global Competitiveness Report has come to represent an authoritative report card on how well politicians and their economies are doing.
But it’s based on the flawed ideology that Bigger is Better – something which is not true!
