  1. Dr Aniruddha Malpani sir , excellent read and great questions raised. However, the answer to a couple of critical questions could only be analysed properly when the country as a whole can go out and do mass random testing, unfortunately that is not possible. How do we figure out the INFECTED and INFECTED ILL without crazy amount of testing. Unless we do that and put the numbers in simulation models, how do we know what percentage of the ILL might need ventilators.
Now i am not an expert and need your help to understand what and how long is the process to identify if a person has dies with coronavirus or due to coronavirus, do we have the resources to analyse when the hospitals are full with patients?

  2. You are right when the hospitals are overwhelmed with patients then there is no time to think and act decisively. It’s a big lesson for medical fraternity to have a disaster management plan in place which will help to take decisions evidenced base and not just ride on panic emotions. Right now what I feel is doctors are more panicking and admitting whoever coming to emergency units with flu like symptoms which has ultimately overburdened the ICUs. These are the times doctors need to be more  calm and in command of the situation.

  3. Knowledgeable persons have been raising doubts. The economic costs mounting. With Rabi crop about to be harvested and supply chain in tatters in many places – India may not be able to withstand any more extension of lock down. I expect Modi jee to announce some roll back tomorrow.

  4. Dr Aniruddha Malpani these questions will not help the Chancellor in taking any decision. The reality still is that within 2 months, Lakhs have died from Corona, even if it is comorbidity or other risk factors. Till someone understands what exactly needs to be done, one cannot take risks. The enormous rate at which the virus is spreading, Distancing is the only option beyond doubt.

  5. Dr Sunita Polampalli yes mam a concrete disaster management plan is much required. However honestly i am not sure if the world can ever prepare for a situation like this, but lets hope that we learn a strong lesson. On the 2nd part, not sure about other countries but india definitely is not admitting flu patients randomly, the protocol is very strict on who to be tested, actually a friend of mine here in kolkata went to ID hospital where there were announcements made that if you have genral fever or slight cough, it might be flu, asking to go home and take care and only inform where more symptoms show up. The burden is under availability.

  6. Great article as it reminds of us of what is known and how to deal with the unknown. PPE and social distancing were adopted late in the West, vs Asia where masks had already become common. We have always had coronavirus variants and should have promoted proper hand washing, not touching your face, and minimized physical contact. The science and the data should follow for calm intelligent response, but it has long been known how to deal with contagion, we just never practiced it.

  7. ? Ok it did sound like that dear 🙂
but now that you say it
Your sentence can be seen in neutral manner too
“An expert virologist without solution is no better than us.”
By itself is a neutral statement
Maybe because I see others who criticise in direct words I assumed you did
So now I am also clear
    ??‍♂️

  8. Dr Aniruddha Malpani
    Thanks for the post.
I hope some one in Min of Health, Delhi or CCMB – Hyderabad makes a press meet. ( I doubt it)
I hope Mass Media highlights. ( I doubt it)
I hope “Solutions” gang/crowd reads and comprehends. ( I doubt it)
    I am an optimist.

  9. Guys, frankly saying, germany has one of the world’s top most health systems.
I am talking about technology and facilities. But everyone has failed while researching about the sources and implications of corona and how to prevent, social distancing is something that is unavoidable now, because that What was told to us by our authorities and informatiomln flow from china about social distancing. But have we ever thought of about, is this the only solution out there??? I mean, no one knows if there are any other solutions out. Chinese rule the world..lets accept that..
