Startups can be fragile, and it’s important for potential investors and customers to assess them critically. A very useful indicator for assessing the health of a startup is to see the reviews that employees provide on Glassdoor.
Don’t get fooled by the ones which incentivize their employees to post 5 star fake reviews.
Reading the negative ones will give you a much better sense of how healthy or toxic the company culture actually is.
It’s really a great insight / approach for evaluating any start up be it from investment point of view or as an employment point of view.
Not necessarily. A disgruntled employee can write whatever s/he wants, anonymously with an intention of screwing up the reputation of the startup. Actually one need not even be an ex-employee to do this mischief!
All info on Glassdoor has to be taken with a huge pinch of salt, as it is public, anonymous info!!
